Poppy, the oldest cat in the world, has died.
At 24, tortoiseshell Poppy became a Guinness world record holder in May after being officially recognised as the world's oldest cat. In human years she was 114.
The elderly moggy, from Bournemouth in Dorset, was born in February, 1990, the same month Nelson Mandela was released from prison in South Africa and Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares to You spent four weeks at No1.

She lived through five British prime ministers and, in her dotage, spent most of her time relaxing indoors.

Poppy passed away last Friday, after a problem with her hind legs and a water infection.
Her human mother Jacqui West and her two 'brothers' Joe, 12, and Toby, eight, are said to be devastated.
