According to Sahara Reporters, residents fleeing the affected communities informed that the insurgents arrived their villages Sunday morning and slaughtered several people as they were heading to church.
Though details of the tragic incident are still being expected, it was reported three days ago that Nigerian troops in the area had fled after Mubi, the second biggest in Adamawa state, fell to the militants.
The Islamist group Boko Haram is believed to have killed over 10 ,000 people from terror attacks across Nigeria especially northern Nigeria.
A truce is believed to have been struck with the militants after the Nigerian government announced last month that it has engaged the terrorists in a cease fire deal.
Only for the purported leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau, to release a video on Friday claiming the terror group had not entered into an agreement with the Federal Government led by President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Shekau, who was reported weeks ago to have been killed by the Nigeria soldiers, Allah has commanded them not to enter into an agreement with the Nigerian government.
