Riot trails announcement of Sanusi Lamido as new Emir of Kano

Rioting occurred on Sunday around the palace of the Emir of Kano as the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, was announced the new Emir of Kano.
The rioting started at the Kofar Kudu area, near the Emir’s palace, shortly after the Kano State Government announced Sanusi as the successor to late Alhaji Ado Bayero.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who witnessed the rioting reports that soon after the announcement of Sanisu, residents of the neighbouring streets trooped out to the palace area in opposition to the choice.
The angry mob set tyres on fire and mounted road blocks as they shouted, “Ba muso, ba muso’’, meaning, “we don’t want, we don’t want’’ in apparent reference to the choice of Sanusi by the state government.
The mob threw stones at passing vehicles, a situation which was brought under control with the quick arrival of a detachment of policemen, civil defence personnel and the state Hisbah. (NAN)

On Saturday, soldiers on highways in Bayelsa, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Niger, Kogi, Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, Sokoto, Benue, Bauchi, Nasarawa states as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), blocked circulation van drivers in route to deliver newspapers to agents and vendors.

8 kinds of guys you lose your virginity to

happy-black-couple1-378x350
He’s probably been in love with you for years, admit it. You avoid each other’s eyes for the rest of the year. All your friends think you’re going to end up together, à la Dawson and Joey and/or Harry and Sally, but … no, thank you.

1. The Slightly Older Rebel:
Whether we’re talking “was in standard classes to your AP classes” or “suspended for smoking weed up against the NO SMOKING IN SCHOOL ZONE sign” depends on you. Regardless, your parents did not care for him. He probably introduced you to at least one significant cultural thing you now love, like Freaks and Geeks or an obscure ’70s band. You mostly did it because your parents did not care for him, though.

2. The Senior Prom Date:
Your high school boyfriend who wore a puka shell necklace. You made him wait for “full sex” until that weekend at the beach house after prom. He was either the same height as or shorter than you. It was over in two seconds. H.A.G.S.!

Fan Pens An Open Letter To Tiwa Savage

tiwa savage-ngtrends-com

Dear Tiwa,
I am a major fan of yours and I have always loved your music right from the very start. I know how bad you must have felt seeing the way your fans reacted to your recently released video ‘Wanted’. I have decided to take time out to explain things to you and make you understand why we reacted the way we did.

Tiwa, from inception, you have been perceived to be an Ambassador of the Youth. You represented the quintessential sexy female role-model, especially in the entertainment world. When we listen to your songs, it sends a message across to the youth.

There is always something to ‘take home’ in your songs: for the young female, how to be simple and sexy without being trashy; for the young aspiring person, how hardwork pays; for the up and coming musician, how to sing songs that not only inspire the youths but motivates them in focusing on their dreams. My point exactly…we just loved you and your music (oh! the freshness of your songs). continue......

The Defence Headquarters has defended its actions which disrupted the operations of some media houses across the country on Friday.
The Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, in an electronic mail told our correspondent that the military was merely conducting security searches.
He said troops embarked on a search of vehicles conveying newspapers and newsprint because of an intelligence report which indicated that dangerous materials were being moved through such vans.
He said, “Troops embarked on thorough search of vehicles conveying newspapers and newsprints across board.
“This followed intelligence report indicating movement of materials with grave security implications across the country using the channel of newsprint related consignments.
“The general public and the affected media organisations in particular are assured that the exercise was a routine security action and should not be misconstrued for any other motive.”
Olukolade said the exercise had nothing to do with the content, operations and personnel of media organisations.
He also explained that newspaper parcels collected during the operations would be returned to the owners after a thorough search
